All-on-X
There is a fixed option. All on X is a full arch anchored to implants in your jaw, so nothing sits on your gums and nothing comes out at night. One consultation tells you whether it suits your case.
Start with two details. The next page asks a few questions about your smile, so the practice team can read your notes before you arrive.

A fixed alternative
All-on-X fixes a full arch of teeth to four or six implants in the jaw. Nothing sits on your gums, nothing comes out, and you clean it in place.
You do not have to be in a denture to be considering this
Two different situations, and both are worth assessing.
Years in a denture
You have worn a plate for years and never got used to it. You still think about it before you eat or speak.
Teeth that keep failing
Your own teeth are still there, but the problems keep coming. An infection, a repair, then the next tooth, and it starts again.
If it is the second one, you have probably spent years and a fair amount of money treating one thing only for another to arrive, and you no longer trust your teeth to hold up. The question then is not which tooth to fix next. It is whether there is a more comprehensive way forward, and that is what the scan and the assessment answer.
Told you do not have enough bone?
It is worth checking rather than taking as final. In suitable cases, implants can be positioned or angled to make better use of the bone you still have, which can reduce or avoid the need for grafting.
Whether that applies to you depends on where the bone has been lost, how much suitable bone remains, its quality and your own anatomy. That is what the scan and the assessment are for.
The Newnham All-on-X experience
Planned in-house, placed in-house.
01
Reason one
The arch is screwed to implants in the jaw, so there is no suction, no adhesive and nothing to take out at night.
You clean it in place, morning and night, the same as teeth. Most people say the relief is in no longer thinking about it.

02
Reason two
A removable denture asks you to think about it. Before you speak up at a table. Before you laugh at something. Before a photo gets taken. If you wear one, that is probably the part you want back, and it has very little to do with chewing.
It is designed to feel secure and to give you strong, reliable function for everyday eating and speaking. It will not feel exactly the same as natural teeth, but compared with a removable denture it can be a significant improvement in stability and chewing confidence, and many patients get back to a broad and varied diet. Your dentist will show you how to care for your new teeth and give you advice for your own bite, lifestyle and treatment.
A fixed full arch is anchored to implants rather than resting on your gums. You do not take it in and out, and it is not relying on suction to stay where it is.

Reason three
Tooth shape, shade and the line of the smile are chosen with you before anything is made.
You see the design on screen first. Nothing is manufactured until you are happy with it.

More than the surgery
Full-arch work takes months, not minutes. The team who greet you at the front desk are the ones who will know your name a year from now.
Your assessment, your treatment planning and your implant surgery are all done by Dr Mark Shih. The person who plans it is the person who places it.
That is the whole reason we keep this work in-house rather than referring it out.
Dr Mark Shih, dentist, registration DEN0001668261
Over one thousand implants placed since 2016.
How the decision gets made
Dr Mark Shih's position is not to recommend the largest or most expensive treatment. Five things are weighed for every patient before anything goes on paper.
Budget
What you can realistically and comfortably invest in treatment. That question comes first, not last.
Function
Whether the plan lets you eat, speak and use your teeth comfortably, day to day.
Longevity and treatment time
How an option is expected to perform over time, what maintenance it asks of you, and how long the whole process takes.
Aesthetic outcome
The result you are hoping for, and which option balances that against your timeframe and your budget.
Risks and alternatives
The clinical risks of each option, and whether saving your own teeth, staged treatment, bone grafting, removable teeth or a different implant approach suits you better.
You are not here because you want more dental treatment. You want to eat, smile and get on with things without wondering what is going to go wrong next. So the aim is the treatment that makes sense clinically, financially and personally, which is not always the most work.
Where you actually stand
If you have spent years in and out of appointments patching up teeth that keep failing, this is the appointment that tells you where you actually stand.
You leave with a scan and a plan, and nothing to sign. A detailed summary follows, with the stages and every figure itemised, including anything that sits outside the price.
The assessment
An hour at 2 Reydon Street: what you want to be able to do again, a look in your mouth, a 3D scan if one is needed, and a plan you take home, with a detailed, itemised summary sent after. Five parts, in this order.
01
Getting to know you
We ask what you want to be able to do again before we look in your mouth. Work, family, photographs, the foods you have given up.
That is what the plan is measured against at the end.
Implant positions planned on the scan before anything starts.
02
Let us have a look
A 3D scan of both jaws rather than a flat x-ray, so the bone is measured, not guessed. Your assessment is complimentary, including the 3D scan if one is needed. Nothing is taken when you book.
We put your scan and photographs on the screen and show you what is possible, in plain language.

Anything you want to ask
The pros and the cons, the timeline, and what recovery involves. If All-on-X is the wrong answer for you, we will say so and tell you what we would do instead.
Nobody is rushed out of this appointment.
05
The last part
Surgery, implants, the arch itself and every review appointment, listed separately in the detailed summary we send after your visit, alongside anything that sits outside the price.
You take the plan home. It is yours whether you treat with us or not.

The price
Dr Mark recommends the number of implants after assessing you, so the fee depends on your case.
All on X at Newnham is from $25,000 per arch. Most cases sit between $25,000 and $30,000 per arch, depending on the number of implants used and the clinical needs of your case.
Super is one of the ways you can pay. Early release is decided by the ATO, and it comes out of your retirement savings. Payment plans are also available, where eligible. Conditions apply.
Your exact amount is confirmed in writing after a full oral examination, including the 3D scan, before anything is booked.

How others manage the investment
Full arch treatment is a significant figure and most people do not pay for it in one go. Patients generally use one of three routes: paying directly, early release of superannuation, or a third party finance provider. Early release of superannuation is assessed by the Australian Taxation Office rather than by the practice, and finance providers run their own application, approval and fees. We will set out what is involved at your assessment so you can look into whichever suits you.
Your route through it
From the assessment onward you have one plan, written down. The surgery is a single day in most cases.
Your assessment, your planning and your implant surgery are done by Dr Mark Shih.
The final arch goes on once the implants have integrated. In a typical case that is about six months from your assessment, and your own plan sets out the stages.
Wherever you are up to
Some people book the assessment and start treatment a fortnight later. Others take the plan home and come back in two years. Both are fine, and neither gets treated differently.
You clean it in place, morning and night, the same as teeth. Most people say the relief is in no longer thinking about it.

Before you apply
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic to fully numb the area. You may notice pressure or movement during the surgery, but you should not feel pain. We check that you are comfortable before we begin and keep checking throughout. For suitable patients who feel particularly anxious, or who would simply rather be more relaxed, twilight sedation is available and is charged separately from the implant treatment. General anaesthetic in hospital can be arranged, at a separate fee. Afterwards, some swelling, tenderness and discomfort are normal and settle within days as the area heals. How long that takes varies between patients and depends on the complexity of the procedure. You will get clear aftercare instructions and an individual pain-management plan to support your recovery.
About six months from your assessment to the final arch in a typical case. It varies with your bone, your bite and how the healing goes, and the plan you take home sets out the stages for your own case.
You clean a fixed arch in place, morning and night, and you keep seeing us for reviews so we can check the implants and the fit. Like natural teeth, the arch and its components can wear over time, so we will talk through looking after them and what maintenance to expect for your own case.
It is worth checking with a 3D scan rather than taking as final. In suitable cases, implants can be positioned or angled to use the bone you still have, which sometimes reduces or avoids grafting. Whether it applies to you depends on where the bone has been lost, how much suitable bone remains, its quality and your own anatomy, so it needs an individual assessment.
The fee depends on your case. The full breakdown, including what is and is not included, is in the price section on this page.
Super is one of the ways you can pay. Payment plans are also available, where eligible. Conditions apply. Early release is applied for through the Australian Taxation Office, and the ATO makes the decision, not the practice. It comes out of your retirement savings, so it is worth speaking with your super fund or a financial adviser first. We talk you through the options at your assessment.
Yes. We are open to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and to 5.00pm on Friday. Tell us when we call and we will book you the latest time we have.
No. It is one option among several, and the assessment weighs your budget, function, treatment time, the look you want, and the risks and alternatives, including saving the teeth you still have. If something else suits you better, that is what the plan will say.
No. You will get a plan and a price, and then you will hear from us only if you ask to. An obligation-free assessment, never a sales pitch.
Ready when you are
Two details to start. We will call you to arrange a time that suits.
Takes about an hour and includes a 3D scan if one is needed. No pressure, just answers.
